BYD has unveiled its latest model, the e7, a mid-class pure electric sedan that is set to make waves in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market. The company recently shared several images of the e7, giving a sneak peek into what customers can expect from this new offering.
The e7 measures 4,780 mm in length and is powered by a single motor with a peak power of 100 kW. This electric sedan promises to deliver both performance and efficiency, with a top speed of 150 km/h. The sleek design and spacious interior of the e7 make it a compelling choice for those looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.
The e7 has already made its way into the regulatory catalog of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, signaling that its launch is imminent. According to the filing information, the e7 boasts a length, width, and height of 4,780 mm, 1,900 mm, and 1,515 mm respectively, along with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
In terms of battery options, the e7 offers packs in 48 kWh and 57.6 kWh capacities, providing CLTC ranges of 450 km and 520 km respectively. This ensures that drivers can enjoy long-distance travel without the need for frequent recharging.
BYD is known for its innovative approach to naming its models, with the e series being a departure from the usual historical or marine life-inspired names. The last update to the e series was the e2 Glory Edition, launched in March 2024 as part of the Ocean series. While the e2 Glory Edition had a starting price of RMB 89,800 ($12,360), it is no longer listed on the BYD website.
In a bid to clear older inventory, BYD has recently offered discounts on three hybrid models in the Ocean series, including the Sealion 06 DM-i hybrid sedan. This move comes after the launch of Smart Driving updates for these models, showing the company’s commitment to staying ahead in the competitive NEV market.
The e7 joins a lineup of new models from BYD, including the Qin L EV sedan, the Sealion 05 EV SUV, and the N9 SUV from its sub-brand Denza. The company’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang has also launched the U7 luxury sedan, while sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao is gearing up to start pre-sales of the Tai 3 SUV.
With a target of selling 5.5 million cars in 2025, including over 800,000 in overseas markets, BYD is setting its sights high in the global automotive industry. The e7 is sure to play a key role in achieving this ambitious goal and solidifying BYD’s position as a leader in the NEV market.
