Competition in China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market is heating up as BYD kicks off 2025 with a teaser of two new models, the Tang L SUV and Han L sedan. These models mark a significant addition to BYD’s lineup, with the Tang family selling 153,365 units in 2024 and the Han family selling 258,452 units.

The Tang L and Han L are the latest offerings from BYD, as seen in teaser images released on Weibo. While details about these new models are scarce, they represent a new chapter in BYD’s push towards electrification.

The Tang and Han families are key players in BYD’s lineup, offering a range of hybrid and pure electric variants. The Tang family consists of mid-to-large-size SUVs, with the 2025 Tang DM-i boasting a seven-seater configuration and a price starting at RMB 179,800. On the other hand, the Han family offers mid-to-large-size sedans, with the 2025 Han DM-i and Han EV starting at RMB 165,800 and RMB 179,800 respectively.

BYD’s strong performance in the NEV market is evident in its December sales figures, with a total of 514,809 units sold. The Tang family saw sales of 16,255 units in December, bringing the full-year total to 153,365 units. Similarly, the Han family sold 34,071 units in December, with full-year sales reaching 258,452 units.

With the introduction of the Tang L and Han L models, BYD is poised to further solidify its position in the NEV market. These new offerings are expected to appeal to a wide range of customers looking for eco-friendly and innovative vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates on BYD’s latest models and their impact on the industry.
