BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) is set to introduce the Sealion 06 SUV to the market in late July, expanding its popular Sealion family lineup. The new model will offer both hybrid and all-electric versions, catering to a wide range of consumers.

According to a report from local automotive media outlet Auto Home, the Sealion 06 is expected to be priced between RMB 160,000 ($22,280) and RMB 200,000. It will be built on BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid technology and the e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform, which were unveiled in May 2024 for improved efficiency and performance.

The Sealion 06 measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. These dimensions make it slightly larger than the Sealion 05 EV SUV, offering more space and comfort for passengers.

The BEV version of the Sealion 06 will come with single-motor and dual-motor options. The single-motor version will have a motor with peak power ranging from 170 kW to 180 kW, while the dual-motor version will feature front and rear motors with maximum power outputs of 110 kW and 180 kW, respectively.

For the PHEV version, the Sealion 06 will be powered by a 1,498 ml engine delivering a maximum power output of 74 kW. It will also include a single motor with a peak power output of 160 kW, providing a balance of performance and fuel efficiency.

The Sealion family, which currently includes the Sealion 07 EV, Sealion 07 DM-i, Sealion 05 DM-i, and Sealion 05 EV, has been a best-seller for BYD. In May alone, the family sold a record 33,790 units, contributing significantly to BYD’s overall new energy vehicle sales.

With the upcoming launch of the Sealion 06, BYD aims to further solidify its position in the EV market and provide customers with more choices in the SUV segment. Stay tuned for the official release of the Sealion 06 at the end of July, offering a blend of cutting-edge technology, performance, and affordability.
