BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to revolutionize the industry with its in-house developed smart driving algorithms. According to recent reports, the company plans to mass-produce these algorithms as early as November, marking a significant milestone in its smart driving development.

Previously relying on supplier solutions, BYD has undergone organizational changes this year to focus on developing its own smart driving algorithms. The company’s smart driving computing platform, known as DiPilot, comes in different variants based on computing power. For instance, DiPilot 100 utilizes chips from Nvidia and Horizon Robotics, while DiPilot 300 and DiPilot 600 offer higher computing power using Nvidia Orin X chips.

BYD is also collaborating with major computing platforms from Nvidia, Horizon Robotics, and Black Sesame Technologies to enhance its smart driving algorithm development. The company has invested significantly in R&D based on the Drive Orin platform from Nvidia, which is considered the most mature platform.

The breakthrough in smart driving R&D will enable BYD to equip its models with high-level smart driving capabilities, with plans to offer these features in models priced as low as RMB 100,000 by 2025. This rapid progress is attributed to a more mature supply chain and strategic acquisitions of experienced teams in the industry.

In addition to developing its own algorithms, BYD is also working on creating its own smart driving chip, starting with a low to medium positioning strategy. The company’s Xuanji Architecture serves as the core of its vehicle intelligence, with plans to offer high-level intelligent driving systems in models priced above RMB 300,000.

Recently, BYD showcased its driver-assistance technology in a video demonstration using a Denza N7 SUV, highlighting its capabilities on complex urban roads without relying on high-definition maps. This initiative reflects BYD’s commitment to innovation and advancing smart driving technology in the electric vehicle market.

In conclusion, BYD’s ambitious plans to mass-produce in-house smart driving algorithms signify a major leap forward in the industry. With a focus on developing cutting-edge technology and enhancing the driving experience for consumers, BYD is poised to lead the way in smart driving innovation.
