Yangwang, a sub-brand of BYD, is set to launch its new flagship sedan, the U7 luxury sedan, on March 27. This ultra-luxury vehicle is priced at the 1 million yuan ($138,000) level and is expected to feature groundbreaking technologies.

The launch event for the Yangwang U7 will take place in Shenzhen on March 27 at 7:30 pm Beijing time. Shenzhen is the city where BYD has its global headquarters, adding significance to the unveiling of this high-end vehicle.

Yangwang first announced its entry into the ultra-luxury market on January 5, 2023. Since then, the brand has already launched the U8 off-road SUV and the U9 electric supercar. The U7 was unveiled on January 10, 2024, as the flagship new energy sedan in the 1 million yuan class.

Powered by four permanent magnet synchronous motors, each with a peak power of 240 kW, the U7 made its real-life debut at the Beijing auto show in April 2024. Pre-sales for the U7 began in November 2024, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants.

The BEV version of the U7 is equipped with a high-performance blade battery with a capacity of 135.5 kWh, providing a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. Yangwang has also highlighted the vehicle’s DiSus-Z body control system, designed to handle bumpy roads and extreme conditions.

DiSus-Z is the most high-end branch of BYD’s body control system, showcasing advanced technology and capabilities. The U7 will be one of the first vehicles to feature this innovative system, enhancing both performance and comfort for drivers and passengers.

The brand’s focus on innovation and quality is evident in the development and features of the U7, setting a new standard for luxury sedans in its class.
