BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang is set to officially launch the U8L on September 12, making a grand entrance into China’s luxury SUV market. The U8L, an extended-wheelbase version of the U8 off-road SUV, boasts impressive dimensions of 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm. This six-seat SUV features a gold logo made from 24K real gold, emphasizing its premium status.

Powered by four electric motors delivering over 1,000 horsepower, the U8L is built on BYD’s e4 platform, promising a powerful and efficient driving experience. The model made its debut at the Shanghai auto show earlier this year and began pre-sales in late July, with the Dingshi Edition priced at RMB 1.3 million ($182,030).

In August, Yangwang saw a significant increase in sales, with a total of 405 vehicles sold, marking a 30.65 percent year-on-year growth and a 19.47 percent rise from July. The U8L accounted for 77 units of the total sales, while the U9 electric supercar and the U7 sedan contributed 1 unit and 327 units, respectively.

With a track record of launching high-end models like the U9 electric supercar and the U7 sedan, Yangwang is making a strong statement in the luxury automotive market. As the brand continues to expand its lineup and push the boundaries of electric vehicle technology, the launch of the U8L signifies another milestone in BYD’s commitment to innovation and excellence. Stay tuned for the official launch event on September 12 at 7:30 pm Beijing time.
