BYD’s car carrier fleet has reached a significant milestone by shipping over 70,000 of the company’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to various destinations across the globe. The latest addition to this fleet is the BYD Zhengzhou, a massive cargo ship capable of carrying 7,000 vehicles. Named after the city of Zhengzhou in Henan province, central China, where one of BYD’s largest vehicle production bases is located, the BYD Zhengzhou recently completed its sea trials and has been officially delivered, becoming the seventh car carrier in BYD’s fleet.
Constructed by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited, the BYD Zhengzhou is a sister ship to the BYD Hefei. With dimensions measuring 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in beam, this cargo ship is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system for efficient operation. Joining the ranks of other BYD cargo ships such as the BYD Explorer No. 1, BYD Changzhou, BYD Shenzhen, BYD Xi’an, and BYD Changsha, the BYD Zhengzhou underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its transportation capabilities for NEVs.
BYD’s successful shipment of over 70,000 NEVs reflects the growing demand for specialized automotive transport ships as China’s automotive exports continue to rise. In June, BYD achieved record-breaking sales figures, selling 382,585 NEVs and 90,049 vehicles overseas. This marks the seventh consecutive month of record-breaking sales, with a notable year-on-year increase of 233.58 percent. In Thailand alone, BYD saw a 66.5 percent year-on-year increase in vehicle sales during the first five months of the year.
As BYD continues to expand its global presence and enhance its transportation infrastructure, the addition of the BYD Zhengzhou to its car carrier fleet signifies a significant step towards meeting the increasing demand for NEVs worldwide. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, BYD remains at the forefront of the electric vehicle industry, delivering cutting-edge solutions for a greener future.
