The sales performance of BYD’s Dynasty lineup has been nothing short of exceptional in the January-October period, with over 1.58 million units sold. This accounts for approximately half of the overall sales of the BYD brand during the same timeframe. The head of sales for the Dynasty lineup, Lu Tian, has boldly predicted that the Dynasty series is on track to achieve sales of about 2 million units by the end of this year.
Lu Tian, who serves as the general manager of BYD’s sales division for the Dynasty series, shared this exciting news in an interview with Dongchedi, a local media outlet. He highlighted that SAIC-Volkswagen, a joint venture brand, achieved a peak sales volume of around 1.73 million vehicles in 2017, setting a record for fuel vehicle sales by a brand in China. However, Lu Tian confidently stated that this record is expected to be surpassed by the BYD Dynasty series this year.
In October alone, BYD made significant strides in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market by selling a total of 502,657 units. This marked a historic milestone for the company, as it was the first time they exceeded the 500,000 mark in a single month. Notably, these sales figures encompass various brands under the BYD umbrella, including Denza, Yangwang, and Fang Cheng Bao.
The standout performance of BYD’s passenger cars, particularly the Dynasty and Ocean series, is worth mentioning. In October, BYD-branded passenger cars recorded sales of 480,841 units, representing a substantial year-on-year increase of 66.05% and a month-on-month growth of 20.60%. The Dynasty lineup alone accounted for 251,090 vehicles sold in October, marking an impressive 82.18% year-on-year growth and a 22.72% increase compared to September.
Looking at the January-October period, BYD’s NEV sales totaled 3,250,532 units, reflecting a robust year-on-year increase of 36.49%. Within this period, the Dynasty series contributed significantly to BYD Group’s overall sales, with 1,588,562 units sold, constituting 48.87% of the total sales. Meanwhile, the Ocean series also performed admirably by selling 1,493,193 vehicles, contributing 45.94% to the sales tally.
As BYD continues its upward trajectory in the NEV market, the company has set ambitious goals for the future. With a revised sales target of 4 million units by 2024, BYD is poised to solidify its position as a key player in the electric vehicle industry. The Dynasty series, in particular, is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving this target, as evidenced by its remarkable sales performance in 2021.
