Changan Automobile Reports Slight Dip in Sales for June 2024

Chinese automaker Changan Automobile recently announced its monthly sales for June 2024, with a total of 225,013 vehicles sold. This represents a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to the same period last year.

One notable highlight from the sales report is the performance of Changan’s wholly-owned brands in the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment. In June, the company sold 63,586 NEVs under its own brands, marking a significant increase of 60.03% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, Changan’s NEV sales reached 299,065 units, showing a substantial surge of 69.87% compared to the previous year.

The overall sales figures for the first half of 2024 also show positive growth for Changan Automobile. The company’s total sales for this period reached 1,334,051 vehicles, a 9.74% increase year-on-year. Sales of vehicles under Changan’s wholly-owned brands amounted to 1,121,346 units, reflecting a growth of 9.88% compared to the same period last year. Within this category, passenger car sales saw a 7.01% increase, with 821,934 units sold.

In terms of exports, Changan Automobile performed well in the first half of the year, exporting 203,207 vehicles under its wholly-owned brands. This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 74.85%.

Looking at Changan’s joint ventures, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda reported sales figures for June. Changan Ford sold 19,513 vehicles, while Changan Mazda sold 5,535 vehicles. Both joint ventures experienced a decline in sales compared to the previous year, with drops of 3.18% and 25.31%, respectively.

Overall, Changan Automobile’s sales performance in June highlights the company’s continued focus on NEVs and the positive growth trajectory in both domestic and international markets. With a strong lineup of vehicles and a commitment to innovation, Changan is well-positioned for further success in the evolving automotive industry.
