In October, China saw a significant increase in power battery installations, reaching 59.2 GWh. This marked a 51 percent year-on-year growth and an 8.6 percent increase from the previous month, according to data released by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).
CATL remained the top player in the market, installing 25.32 GWh of power batteries in October, holding a 42.78 percent share. However, this was a slight decrease from September’s 44.02 percent share. BYD took the second spot with 15.82 GWh of installed capacity, accounting for 26.73 percent of the market share, which was an increase from the previous month.
CALB secured the third position with a 6.61 percent share, while Gotion High-tech ranked fourth with a 5.2 percent share. The country’s lithium ternary battery installed capacity in October was 12.2 GWh, representing 20.6 percent of the total installed capacity.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries dominated the market with an installed capacity of 47.0 GWh, constituting 79.4 percent of the total. This marked a 75.1 percent year-on-year increase and a 13.7 percent growth from September.
In the ternary battery market, CATL, CALB, and Svolt Energy were the top three players in terms of installed capacity in October. CATL led with a 75.12 percent share, followed by CALB at 10.64 percent and Svolt Energy at 3.64 percent.
When it comes to LFP batteries, CATL, BYD, and Gotion were the top three in installed capacity, holding shares of 34.42 percent, 33.67 percent, and 6.19 percent, respectively.
Overall, China produced 113.1 GWh of power and other batteries in October, a 45.5 percent increase year-on-year. Ternary batteries production stood at 23.5 GWh, while LFP batteries production reached 89.5 GWh.
In terms of exports, China shipped out 10.8 GWh of power batteries in October, including 7.3 GWh of ternary batteries and 3.4 GWh of LFP batteries.
This data highlights the continued growth and dominance of Chinese power battery manufacturers in the global market, with key players like CATL and BYD leading the way in innovation and production.
