Insurance registrations for major electric vehicle (EV) makers in China continue to remain low as disruptions from the New Year holiday persist.

For the week of February 3-9 — week six of 2025 — Nio branded vehicles saw 1,100 insurance registrations in China, compared with 3,300 in the previous two weeks combined, according to data shared today by Li Auto.

The numbers shared by Li Auto are by brand, and in Nio’s case do not include insurance registrations for the Onvo sub-brand.

Onvo did not make any of Li Auto’s latest lists, with the brand had combined figures of 2,480 units for weeks four and five.

Industrial production in China was disrupted by the Chinese New Year holiday from January 28 to February 4, when people usually return to their hometowns for vacations.

February 5 was the first working day after the holiday. As part of the holiday schedule, February 8 was an additional working day, albeit on a Saturday.

Nio Inc delivered 13,863 vehicles in January, up 37.87 percent from 10,055 a year ago but down 55.48 percent from 31,138 in December, according to data it released on February 1.

The Nio main brand delivered 7,951 vehicles in January, down 20.92 percent from 10,055 a year earlier and down 61.42 percent from 20,610 in December.

The Onvo brand delivered 5,912 units in January, down 43.84 percent from 10,528 in December.

Nio announced a five-year, zero percent interest financing program for the Nio brand on February 1. Onvo also announced larger promotions on February 7.

William Li, the company’s founder, chairman and CEO, said on February 8 that Nio would have new models or facelifts every quarter this year starting in the second quarter.

Xpeng announced on February 5 that it launched a zero down payment, and zero interest financing policy for up to 5 years in China.

Li Auto had insurance registrations of 4,700 units last week, compared to 11,000 units in the previous two weeks combined.

The company delivered 29,927 vehicles in January, down 3.97 percent from 31,165 a year ago and down 48.85 percent from 58,513 in December.
