Electric vehicle (EV) makers in China saw a mixed performance in terms of insurance registrations last week, with some companies experiencing growth while others faced a decline. The data shared by Li Auto revealed that Xiaomi had 5,400 insurance registrations, Li Auto had 7,600, Xpeng had 7,400, Zeekr had 2,800, Leapmotor had 5,200, and Aito had 5,000.

Interestingly, Nio’s main brand did not make it to any of the lists shared by Li Auto for the first time. Onvo, Nio’s sub-brand, recorded 1,800 insurance registrations, marking a 21.74 percent decrease from the previous week.

Nio Inc delivered a record 31,138 vehicles in December, with the main brand delivering 20,610 vehicles and Onvo delivering 10,528 vehicles. The company is aiming for further growth in the coming months.

Li Auto, on the other hand, had 7,600 insurance registrations last week, reflecting a 13.43 percent increase from the previous week. The company delivered a record 58,513 vehicles in December, falling slightly below its fourth-quarter delivery target.

Xpeng saw a 5.71 percent increase in insurance registrations, with 7,400 vehicles registered last week. The company delivered 36,695 vehicles in December, marking its fourth consecutive record month.

Tesla had 7,800 insurance registrations in China last week, showing a significant increase from the previous week. The company’s performance in China has been strong, with a factory in Shanghai producing Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers for both local and export markets.

BYD recorded 42,800 insurance registrations last week, up 17.26 percent from the previous week. The company has been consistently achieving record sales, with December marking the 7th consecutive month of record sales.

Zeekr experienced a decline in insurance registrations, with 2,800 vehicles registered last week. Leapmotor, on the other hand, saw an increase in registrations, with 5,200 units registered.
