According to data released by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA), CATL’s market share decreased by 2.28 percentage points to 41.40% while BYD’s share dropped by 0.29 percentage points to 21.18%. Despite this, smaller players in the market saw growth, indicating a more competitive landscape in the industry.

In July, China’s power battery installation volume reached 55.9 GWh, marking a 34.3% year-on-year increase but a 4.0% decrease from the previous month. CATL maintained its top position with battery installations totaling 23.11 GWh, followed by BYD with 11.83 GWh. CALB, Gotion High-tech, and Eve Energy secured the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively, in terms of market share.

Ternary lithium battery installations totaled 10.9 GWh in July, accounting for 19.6% of total installations. On the other hand, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries dominated the market with an installation volume of 44.9 GWh, representing 80.4% of the total volume.

CATL, CALB, and Svolt Energy emerged as the top three manufacturers of ternary batteries in July, capturing significant market shares. In the LFP battery market, CATL, BYD, and CALB led in terms of shipment volumes.

Overall, China’s production of power batteries and other batteries in July reached 133.8 GWh, marking a 44.3% year-on-year increase and a 3.6% month-on-month growth. The production of ternary batteries and LFP batteries also saw positive growth trends compared to the previous year.

In terms of exports, China shipped 14.8 GWh of power batteries in July, with ternary batteries accounting for 8.4 GWh and LFP batteries accounting for 6.2 GWh.
