China’s Xiaomi Breaks Nürburgring Lap Record for Electric Production Cars

China’s Xiaomi has made waves in the automotive world by shattering the Nürburgring lap record for electric production cars. The company’s SU7 Ultra saloon, equipped with a powerful tri-motor setup producing 1527bhp, completed the lap in an impressive 7 minutes and 4.957 seconds. This achievement puts Xiaomi ahead of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT by almost three seconds.

The SU7 Ultra, dubbed a hyper-saloon, boasts mind-blowing performance figures. With the ability to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 1.98 seconds and a top speed of 207mph, it is one of the fastest electric vehicles currently on the market. The car’s four-wheel-drive system and optional track package contributed to its impressive lap time at the Nürburgring.

Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V8S electric motor powers the SU7 Ultra, delivering a total of 1527bhp. This marks an 863bhp increase over the previous four-wheel-drive model. The revolutionary motor is designed to provide power comparable to that of a modern petrol V8 engine, with a claimed rev limit of 27,200rpm.

The SU7 Ultra is built on Xiaomi’s Modena EV platform and features a proprietary 800V electrical architecture. It is equipped with a CATL Qilin 2.0 battery with a capacity of 93.7kWh, allowing for a maximum range of 385 miles on the Chinese CLTC test cycle.

In addition to its record-breaking performance on the track, the SU7 Ultra also impresses with its sleek design and cutting-edge technology. Chinese deliveries of the super-EV began earlier this year, with the possibility of exports in the future.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra represents a new era in electric vehicle performance, challenging established automakers with its blend of power, speed, and innovation. With its Nürburgring lap record and impressive specifications, the SU7 Ultra cements Xiaomi’s position as a key player in the electric car market.
