Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup Rox Motor has made a bold move by expanding into the Saudi Arabian market with its all-terrain SUV, the Rox 01. The company’s entrance into Saudi Arabia was marked by securing over 200 orders on the first day of the LEAP 2025 event, showcasing the strong demand for their vehicles in the region.
Rox Motor, founded in January 2021, has been making waves in the EV industry with its innovative approach to electric vehicle design. The Rox 01, the company’s first model launched in August 2023, is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) that has quickly gained popularity in the market. Priced at RMB 299,900 ($41,050) in China, the Rox 01 competes directly with Li Auto’s Li L8.
The Rox 01 boasts an impressive combined range of up to 1,100 kilometers on a full tank of gas and a full charge, making it a compelling option for environmentally conscious consumers. In addition, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.5 seconds, offering a thrilling driving experience for EV enthusiasts.
With the Vision 2030 initiatives in Saudi Arabia creating a unique market opportunity, Rox Motor is poised to play a leading role in shaping the country’s automotive future. In partnership with the Laith Al Obaidi Group, Rox Motor has officially opened its first showroom in An Nasin, Riyadh, with plans to open a flagship showroom on Khurais Road later this month. Looking ahead, Rox Motor has ambitious plans for the future, with plans to launch a new global model in the second half of this year. The company aims to introduce one new model each year as part of its steady expansion strategy, catering to the evolving needs of the global EV market.
To date, Rox Motor has established sales and service networks in more than 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates.
