Dongfeng Motor Group’s auto sales drop 13.02% YoY in May 2024

Dongfeng Motor Group Reports a 13.02% Decline in Auto Sales for May 2024

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On June 11, Dongfeng Motor Group Company Limited (Dongfeng Motor Group) announced that it sold 147,206 vehicles in the fifth month of 2024, representing a 13.02% decline year-on-year.

Among the vehicles sold in May, 17.14% were contributed by new energy vehicles (NEVs), which dipped 1% from that of the previous year to 25,224 units.

In the first five months of this year, Dongfeng Motor Group’s cumulative sales amounted to 811,921 vehicles, rising 5.94% year over year. NEVs accounted for 14.71% of the total, standing at 119,451 units, which jumped 26.2% from a year ago.

The group’s passenger vehicle sector achieved a monthly sales volume of 122,104 vehicles in May, down 15.27% year-on-year. Nonetheless, Dongfeng Motor Group’s wholly-owned passenger car brands boasted prominent performance in the past month.

Specifically, Dongfeng Motor Passenger Vehicle Company (including Aeolus, eπ, and NAMMI brands) sold 13,824 vehicles in May, indicating a 36.43% leap over the previous year. VOYAH, the group’s premium new energy vehicle brand, achieved a 50.55% year-on-year spike in May sales, which came in at 4,521 units. Additionally, Dongfeng Motor Group’s high-end electric off-roader brand MHERO sold 110 vehicles last month.

On May 8, Dongfeng Motor announced that the MHERO 917 model is set to enter the Middle East market, with current testing underway in the UAE. Then, on June 6, VOYAH launched the VOYAH FREE and VOYAH DREAM models in Spain, priced at €77,790 (approx. 616,000 yuan) and €94,650 (approx. 749,000 yuan) respectively. This marked VOYAH’s official entry into the Spanish market, with its first showroom opening in Madrid this month.
