Škoda Auto has made a significant leap in the automotive industry, surpassing BMW to become the third largest make in Europe and even outselling Toyota in May. The latest data from ACEA for the previous month showcase this new hierarchy, with the Czech brand delivering 72,602 passenger vehicles, a remarkable 16% increase compared to Toyota’s 72,536 units, which saw a 3% decrease. Volkswagen remains firmly in first place with 127,318 vehicles sold, marking a 3.5% increase.

Year-to-date figures paint a clear picture of the standings:
– Volkswagen leads with 615,646 vehicles sold, showing an 8% increase
– Toyota follows with 366,562 units sold, an 8% decrease
– Škoda takes the third spot with 334,437 vehicles sold, representing a 7% increase
– BMW secures the fourth position with 330,867 units sold, a 1% increase

Škoda’s dominance is particularly evident in Germany, where sales have surged throughout 2025. In May alone, the brand experienced a 13% year-on-year increase, reaching 88,781 vehicles sold in the first five months of the year. This places Škoda comfortably ahead of Audi, which occupies the fifth position in the German market. The success in Germany can be attributed to strong sales of models like the Octavia, Kodiaq, and Karoq.

As Škoda continues to gain momentum in the European market, its position as a key player in the automotive industry is solidified. The brand’s innovative approach and strong product lineup have resonated with consumers, driving impressive sales figures and solidifying its reputation as a top contender in the competitive automotive landscape. With a focus on quality, performance, and customer satisfaction, Škoda is poised for continued success in the future.
