Nio (NYSE: NIO) made a significant announcement today regarding its annual flagship event, Nio Day. The company revealed that Nio Day 2025 will be moved to the fall season instead of the traditional year-end timing. This change marks the first major adjustment to the event’s schedule in eight years, highlighting Nio’s focus on optimizing the cost-effectiveness of the event.

Preparations for Nio Day 2025 are already underway, with the company confirming that the highly anticipated third-generation ES8 SUV will be launched at the event. This move is in line with Nio’s tradition of unveiling major product and technology releases at each Nio Day since 2017.

Looking back at past Nio Day events provides insight into the evolution of the company’s offerings and strategic direction. The inaugural Nio Day held on December 16, 2017, in Beijing set the stage for future events by introducing the ES8, Nio’s first mass-produced model, alongside innovative features like the Nio Power charging system and Nio Pilot driving assistance system.

Subsequent Nio Day events continued to captivate audiences with new product launches and technological advancements. Nio Day 2018 in Shanghai saw the debut of the ES6, a more affordable SUV that became a cornerstone of Nio’s product lineup. The event showcased Nio’s commitment to continuous improvement, with subsequent updates and releases building on the success of previous models.

Nio Day 2019 in Shenzhen introduced the upgraded ES8 and the coupe SUV EC6, demonstrating Nio’s dedication to enhancing its existing offerings and expanding its product portfolio. The event also unveiled a long-range battery pack, underscoring Nio’s commitment to innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

In the wake of the global pandemic, Nio adapted by holding Nio Day 2020 in Chengdu at the beginning of the following year. This event marked a shift in location selection, as community users voted for Chengdu as the venue. The launch of the ET7 sedan and cutting-edge battery technology emphasized Nio’s forward-thinking approach to electric vehicle development.

Subsequent Nio Day events continued to showcase Nio’s advancements in automotive technology and market expansion. Nio Day 2021 in Suzhou introduced the ET5 sedan and outlined the company’s global market strategy. Nio Day 2022 in Hefei witnessed the launch of the EC7 coupe SUV and the all-new ES8, underscoring Nio’s commitment to product diversity and customer satisfaction.

Nio Day 2023 in Xi’an was a milestone event, unveiling the flagship sedan ET9 and Nio’s proprietary autonomous driving chip, the Shenji NX9031. These developments positioned Nio as a leader in cutting-edge technology and vehicle innovation.

Most recently, Nio Day 2024 in Guangzhou saw the official launch of the ET9 sedan and the introduction of the Firefly brand targeting the premium compact car market. The debut of the Firefly model in April 2025 further expanded Nio’s product lineup and market reach.

As Nio prepares for Nio Day 2025 in the fall, anticipation is high for the unveiling of the third-generation ES8 SUV and the next chapter in Nio’s journey of innovation and excellence in the electric vehicle industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated event.
