Ferrari has recently unveiled the 296 Speciale, a high-performance plug-in hybrid berlinetta that is setting new standards in the world of luxury sports cars. This impressive vehicle is a testament to Ferrari’s commitment to innovation and excellence as they pave the way towards full electrification.

The 296 Speciale boasts a remarkable combined power output of 880hp, surpassing its predecessor by 50hp and establishing a new record for rear-wheel-drive production Ferraris. At the heart of this powerhouse is a rear-mid V6 twin-turbo engine paired with an electric motor, delivering unprecedented power and performance.

The electric motor, strategically positioned between the combustion engine and the eight-speed DCT gearbox, can decouple from the engine via an additional clutch, allowing for a pure electric driving mode when desired. This innovative feature enhances the driving experience and showcases Ferrari’s dedication to sustainability without compromising on performance.

In terms of aerodynamics, the 296 Speciale generates an impressive 435kg of downforce at 250kph, a 20% improvement over its predecessor, the 296 GTB. Drawing inspiration from motorsports, particularly the 296 Challenge, the aerodynamic enhancements on the Speciale provide unrivaled solutions for a road car, ensuring optimal performance on the track and the road.

Inside the cabin, the 296 Speciale reflects Ferrari’s latest design philosophy for special versions, focusing on weight reduction and simplicity. Carbon fiber and Alcantara are extensively used throughout the interior, creating a race-focused atmosphere that exudes luxury and sophistication.

To support the increased power of the 296 Speciale, engineers have enhanced cooling efficiency without altering the radiator size or layout, maintaining the thermal balance established in the 296 GTB. Additionally, the braking system has been optimized to handle the higher power, downforce, and grip of the Speciale, ensuring optimal performance and safety in all driving conditions.
