Stellantis’ Fiat has announced plans to produce 5,000 units of the Fiat 500 Hybrid at its historic Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy by 2025. This move marks a significant step in revitalizing the plant and boosting production capacity.

The pre-production activities for the Fiat 500 Hybrid are already underway, following Stellantis’ strategic roadmap outlined in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy in December of last year. Production is set to commence in November 2025.

The initiative aims to breathe new life into the Turin facility, with plans to increase Fiat 500 Hybrid production to an additional 100,000 units annually. The Fiat 500 Hybrid will be available in three configurations: the classic Hatchback, the 3+1 with a rear-hinged door, and the unique Cabrio convertible.

Powered by an Italian-made 1.0L FireFly mild-hybrid engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the Fiat 500 Hybrid boasts a 12V electrical system designed to enhance fuel efficiency. The vehicle also features the Uconnect 5 system with a 10.25-inch customizable touchscreen and a 7-inch digital display, offering full wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless smartphone integration.

Furthermore, the Fiat 500 Hybrid comes equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition for enhanced safety on the road.

Olivier François, Stellantis global CMO and FIAT CEO, expressed his satisfaction with the project, stating, “Bringing the 500 Hybrid back to Mirafiori is a promise kept—a win driven by a committed team that chose to bet on the customer and the future. This factory is more than just a production site; it’s FIAT’s home, the beating heart of a story that began in 1957 with Dante Giacosa and today stands as a hub of Stellantis innovation in Europe. Our industrial plan for Italy puts Mirafiori and the 500 at the center of our revival.”

In a related development, Stellantis recently launched a voluntary redundancy scheme targeting 610 workers at the Mirafiori plant as part of a broader workforce adjustment strategy within its operations in Italy.

In conclusion, the Fiat 500 Hybrid project at the Mirafiori plant represents a significant milestone in Stellantis’ commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. With cutting-edge technology and a focus on efficiency and safety, the Fiat 500 Hybrid is set to make a mark in the market and contribute to the plant’s resurgence in Turin.
