Ford UK is making a big push towards electric vehicles with the launch of the new Puma Electric. The automaker is hoping that the introduction of this electrified version of its popular Puma model will entice current Ford owners to make the switch to electric. To sweeten the deal, Ford is rolling out a new range of incentives to make the transition to electric vehicles more appealing.
One of the key incentives being offered is the Power Promise, which includes a free home charger and home energy credit from Octopus Energy to cover up to 10,000 miles for every buyer of a Ford EV. In addition, Ford is also throwing in a free five-year service plan that includes EV towing, as well as an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty for the battery and high-voltage components.
While Ford already offers electric versions of models like the Mustang Mach-E, Explorer, and Capri, the arrival of the Puma Electric is particularly significant as the Puma is Britain’s best-selling vehicle. Catherine Blee, Ford UK’s passenger vehicles sales boss, explained that there has been a high demand for an electrified version of the Puma from both current Puma owners and Fiesta owners who are looking to make the switch to electric.
Blee emphasized that the Power Promise initiative was developed in response to customer feedback and a survey that revealed that 25% of people were hesitant to switch to an EV due to perceived complexities. By offering a compelling incentive package, Ford aims to address these concerns and make the transition to electric vehicles more accessible for potential buyers.
In addition to the Power Promise scheme, Ford is also working closely with its dealers to help educate customers on the total cost of ownership of an electric vehicle. Blee highlighted the importance of providing data-driven information to potential EV buyers and ensuring that dealers are equipped to explain the benefits of making the switch to electric.
With these new initiatives in place, Ford is confident that it can attract a new wave of EV customers who may have been hesitant to make the switch in the past. By offering attractive incentives and providing comprehensive information on the benefits of electric vehicles, Ford is positioning itself as a leader in the transition towards sustainable transportation.
