GAC’s Aion brand is set to unveil its new Aion UT at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show. Prior to its public debut, new details about the Aion UT have surfaced, shedding light on its specifications and design.
According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Aion UT is closer in size to a Volkswagen ID.3 than a BYD Dolphin. The electric hatchback measures 4270mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1575mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750mm. It weighs between 1510kg and 1540kg, and buyers can choose between 16 or 17-inch wheels.
Powering the Aion UT is a TZ160XYD3A02 permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power output of 100kW. The car will utilize lithium iron phosphate batteries and can reach a top speed of 150 km/h.
Visually, the Aion UT features a split-tone design with a silver and black color scheme above the window line. Previous images showcased a silver version, while a new MIIT picture reveals a green variant.
Internally known as the AY2, the Aion UT is the second global model from the all-electric Aion brand, following the Aion V. With listing information now available, pre-sales could potentially begin at the Guangzhou Auto Show or by the end of the year. European sales are anticipated to commence in 2025, with the Aion UT playing a crucial role in expanding GAC’s brand presence overseas.
Notably, the MIIT listing indicates variations of the Aion UT with or without cameras, radars, and a sunroof. This suggests that buyers may have options to customize their vehicles to suit their preferences.
Overall, the Aion UT promises to be a competitive player in the electric vehicle market, offering a blend of performance, design, and technology. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from GAC’s Aion brand.
