GAC Group’s Govy brand has recently introduced its latest innovation in the form of the Govy AirCab, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) flying car. The AirCab, priced at no more than RMB 1.68 million ($233,900), is set to revolutionize low-altitude tourism with its two-seat capacity.
Constructed with over 90 percent carbon fiber composite material, the Govy AirCab boasts L4 autonomous driving capabilities and is powered by high-density cylindrical batteries that can be fully charged in just 25 minutes. While the exact range per charge remains undisclosed, the eVTOL is designed for optimal efficiency and performance.
Scheduled for demonstration operations in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area later this year, the Govy AirCab is currently undergoing airworthiness certification and is expected to be available for delivery by the end of 2026. As part of GAC’s ambitious foray into the eVTOL market, the AirCab joins the Govy Airjet as the brand’s pioneering products showcased at the Hong Kong auto show.
In a landscape where flying cars are rapidly gaining momentum, GAC’s Govy brand is positioning itself as a key player in China’s burgeoning eVTOL industry. With competitors like Ehang and Xpeng also making significant strides in the sector, the race towards mass production and commercial viability is well underway.
As the automotive industry continues to embrace the concept of flying cars, the introduction of Govy’s AirCab signifies a significant milestone in the evolution of urban mobility. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and cutting-edge technology, GAC Group’s Govy brand is poised to reshape the future of transportation in China and beyond.
