Geely Automobile Holdings Limited recently announced its plans to acquire full ownership of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Holding Limited, a move that will see Zeekr become a wholly owned subsidiary of Geely Automobile. This acquisition is part of Geely’s strategy to consolidate its presence in the intelligent new energy vehicle (NEV) sector and strengthen its global competitiveness.

The integration of Zeekr into the Geely Automobile brand portfolio, alongside Lynk & Co, Galaxy, and China Star series, is aimed at enhancing resource efficiency, deepening brand collaboration, and fostering innovation. By leveraging synergies across technology, product development, supply chain, manufacturing, marketing, and service, Geely aims to unlock economies of scale and drive growth in the NEV market.

In April 2025, Geely Automobile achieved a significant milestone with total sales of 234,112 vehicles, marking a 53% year-on-year increase. Notably, NEV sales accounted for 53.63% of total sales, reaching 125,563 units and registering a 144% year-on-year surge. This strong performance underscores Geely’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its leadership in the electric vehicle segment.

Chairman Li Shufu emphasized the importance of agility and integration in navigating the competitive automotive landscape. He highlighted the Tāizhōu Declaration as a guiding principle for consolidating technological strengths, driving innovation, and creating long-term value. Geely’s vision is to establish a globally leading intelligent electric vehicle group, setting new benchmarks for the industry.

As Geely continues to evolve and expand its presence in the NEV market, the acquisition of Zeekr represents a strategic move towards achieving its growth objectives. By uniting under the Geely brand umbrella, the group is poised to deliver cutting-edge technologies, innovative products, and exceptional customer experiences in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
