Geely-backed Zeekr 7X Electric Crossover Delivers Impressive 20,000 Cars in China
The Zeekr 7X electric crossover, supported by Geely, has made a significant impact in the Chinese market by delivering 20,000 cars just 50 days after its sales commenced. Priced at $32,000, this high-end battery electric vehicle (BEV) aims to become Zeekr’s best-selling car, although there has been a slight slowdown in deliveries following the initial hype surrounding its launch.
Zeekr is a luxury Chinese brand for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) that was introduced by Geely in 2021. In May of this year, Zeekr raised an impressive $441 million through an IPO in New York. With a current lineup of six vehicles, Zeekr has seen cumulative sales of 167,922 units from January to October 2024. While the Zeekr 001 shooting brake remains the brand’s top-selling model, the recently unveiled Zeekr 7X crossover is poised to take over that title.
The Zeekr 7X made its debut in the Chinese market on September 20 and quickly gained traction. Within 24 hours of its launch, the vehicle had received over 6,000 firm orders. By September 30, Zeekr had already handed over 5,000 cars to eager customers. A week later, the brand secured a remarkable 20,000 firm orders for the Zeekr 7X, setting the stage for its impressive sales performance.
On November 11, Zeekr officially delivered 20,000 units of the 7X to customers in mainland China, marking a significant milestone for the brand. Despite the initial success, the pace of deliveries has slightly decreased compared to the first weeks after the sales began.
The Zeekr 7X boasts a mid-size SUV design with dimensions of 4825/1930/1656 mm and a wheelbase of 2925 mm. Its minimalist interior features a 15-inch main screen and a 13-inch instrument cluster, along with a spacious 765-liter cargo capacity.
Equipped with two powertrain options, the Zeekr 7X offers a single electric motor in the rear axle producing 310 kW (416 hp) for the entry-level model and a 4WD variant with two e-motors delivering 475 kW (637 hp). The vehicle comes with two battery choices: a 75 kWh LFP pack and a 100 kWh ternary NMC battery, offering a range of 605 – 780 km on the CLTC cycle. Pricing for the Zeekr 7X ranges from 229,900 to 269,900 yuan ($32,000 – $37,500).
With its impressive sales figures and innovative features, the Zeekr 7X is poised to make a significant impact in the Chinese electric vehicle market and solidify its position as a top contender in the luxury NEV segment.
