Geely Achieves Record NEV Sales in October
For the first time in October, Geely sold more than 100,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in a month. While this figure may not match BYD’s level of over half a million, it demonstrates Geely’s rapid ascension in the NEV market. The term NEV in China encompasses fully electric, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles.
Geely’s NEV sales in October reached 108,722 units, marking a 19% month-on-month increase and an impressive 83% year-on-year growth. Year-to-date sales from January to October totaled 654,576 units, projecting a full-year estimate of around 900,000 units.
A significant contributor to Geely’s success in October was the Geely Galaxy series, which accounted for 63,492 units. This series, launched just last year, comprises both electric and PHEV models.
Recently, Geely introduced the new NordThor 2.0 PHEV system, also known as EM-i, set to power the upcoming Galaxy Starship 7 and Galaxy L6 sedan. The system boasts an internal combustion engine with the world’s highest thermal efficiency rate of 46.5% and an 11-in-1 electric drive, offering a combined range of 2,390 km and fuel consumption of 2.67 l/100km.
In August, Geely unveiled the Galaxy E5 electric SUV, featuring the brand’s new generation Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate batteries. The model achieved over 12,000 sales in its initial 20 days on the market.
Zeekr, Geely’s all-electric subsidiary, delivered 25,049 vehicles in October, with sales expected to surge following the launch of the Mix and 7X models.
Meanwhile, Lynk & Co sold 19,992 vehicles in October, with a focus on PHEVs powered by the performance-oriented EM-P version of the NordThor powertrain. The brand recently introduced its first fully electric model, the Z10 sedan, and debuted the Z20, its second fully electric car, in Europe.
Geely’s Geome Xingyuan, launched in September, has seen over 11,500 deliveries as of October 27, with orders surpassing 50,000 by mid-October.
As reported by Fast Technology, Geely’s remarkable performance in the NEV market showcases its growing influence and competitiveness in the industry. The company’s innovative technologies and diverse product lineup position it as a key player in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape.
