Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) has recently announced the launch of its all-electric SUV, the Geely EX5, in Australia and New Zealand, expanding its international presence to Oceania. The model was unveiled at an event held at Luna Park in Sydney on March 11, where the Chinese automaker also introduced its international user brand, Geely Go.
According to Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group, the company plans to enter more markets by the end of this year, including the UK, Brazil, and South Africa. This expansion will involve adding over 300 new sales and service outlets, bringing the total number of international channels to more than 1,100.
The Geely EX5 has already made a significant impact in several markets, with over 1,000 orders received within a week of its launch in Indonesia. The model has also garnered interest from consumers in the Philippines and Costa Rica. In Thailand, the EX5 recently achieved a milestone by making its first deliveries in the country.
By the end of 2025, Geely aims to have the EX5 available in more than 20 markets worldwide, solidifying its international presence. The EX5 is the first global model from Geely based on the GEA Global Intelligent Electric Architecture with Geely Short Blade Battery and CTB structure.
Over the next three years, Geely plans to introduce eight new energy vehicle (NEV) models built on the GEA architecture to cater to different market segments. The company also launched Geely Go, an ecosystem for overseas car enthusiasts to connect and communicate, creating a user operation system for car owners.
Geely established a regional subsidiary in Australia in 2024 and currently operates 22 dealer outlets in Australia and two in New Zealand. The automaker aims to expand its presence in the region by establishing more than 100 dealer outlets in the future.
In collaboration with Renault, Geely is also working on producing low-emission cars in Brazil, furthering its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. This partnership highlights Geely’s dedication to expanding its global footprint and offering environmentally friendly vehicle options to consumers worldwide.
