Geely Auto Group has recently unveiled its latest offering, the Geely EX5, an all-new battery electric SUV that has made its debut in Hong Kong at the International MotorXpo Hong Kong (IMXpo) 2024. This launch signifies a strategic move for Geely as it aims to strengthen its presence in international markets.

The Geely EX5 is being positioned as a compact battery electric SUV targeting urban tech-savvy consumers in Hong Kong. With a price range between HK$200,000 and HK$240,000, the vehicle is expected to appeal to a wide range of customers in the region. Zhilian Zhili New Energy Auto Service (Hong Kong) Limited has been appointed as the official authorized dealer for Geely EX5 sales and aftersales service.

This expansion into Hong Kong is part of Geely’s broader global strategy, which focuses on establishing a presence in countries along the “One Belt One Road” initiative. The company aims to open over 600 overseas sales points in regions such as Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America, with a target of achieving overseas sales of 600,000 vehicles by 2025.

The Geely EX5, known as the “Galaxy E5” in mainland China, is the first battery electric SUV in Geely’s Galaxy series. It is built on the Geely Galaxy Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility solutions.

Since its official debut in mainland China, the Geely EX5 has seen significant success, with 20,000 deliveries within 45 days of launch and over 50,000 units delivered within 100 days. The vehicle is equipped with an “11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system” that integrates key components like the motor, electronic control, and decelerator into a compact space, enhancing performance and control.

Overall, Geely’s expansion into Hong Kong with the Geely EX5 marks a milestone in the company’s global strategy and reinforces its position as a key player in the electric vehicle market.
