Geely EX5 Electric Crossover Achieves 5-Star Safety Rating from Euro NCAP and ANCAP

Volvo parent company Geely has recently made headlines with its EX5 electric crossover achieving a prestigious five-star safety rating from both the European NCAP and Australian ANCAP. The Chinese EV underwent rigorous testing and emerged as a top performer in crash tests, further dispelling the myth that Chinese products are inferior in quality.

The Geely EX5 joins a growing list of Chinese electric vehicles that have excelled in safety tests, including models from BYD, NIO, XPeng, and Zeekr. Western brands like Polestar and Volvo, which have Chinese-built cars in their lineup, have also consistently received top safety ratings. The success of these vehicles in crash tests highlights the significant advancements in automotive safety technology coming out of China.

One of the key highlights of the Geely EX5’s performance in crash tests is its ability to withstand a front offset crash with minimal deformation of the A-pillar and no cabin intrusion from the front tire. This level of structural integrity is crucial in ensuring passenger safety during a collision, making the EX5 a reliable choice for drivers seeking a secure ride.

In addition to its impressive safety features, the Geely EX5 offers a range of 430 km on the WLTP cycle from a 60.2 kWh battery. The electric crossover can be charged to 80% in just 20 minutes, and it accelerates from 0-100 km (62 mph) in a swift 6.9 seconds. The exterior design and interior quality of the EX5 are on par with luxury brands like Acura, Buick, and Volvo, making it a competitive option in the electric vehicle market.

While the five-star safety rating is a significant achievement for the Geely EX5, it is worth noting that the vehicle’s overall performance and design stand out even without this accolade. The safety rating serves as a testament to Geely’s commitment to producing high-quality electric vehicles that meet international safety standards.

For consumers considering the Geely EX5, the safety rating provides an added layer of assurance and may encourage Western buyers to explore this Chinese-made electric crossover. With its combination of safety, performance, and design, the Geely EX5 is poised to make a strong impression in the global EV market.

Overall, the Geely EX5’s success in safety tests underscores the rapid progress of Chinese automakers in developing cutting-edge electric vehicles. As the demand for sustainable transportation continues to grow, vehicles like the EX5 are paving the way for a new era of electric mobility.
