Geely Galaxy files for new Starshine 6 hybrid sedan to maintain strong growth momentum

Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand of Geely Auto, is making waves in the automotive industry with its latest offering – the Starshine 6 hybrid sedan. This new model is set to continue the brand’s growth momentum, following the success of its predecessor, the Starshine 8.

The Starshine 6 is slightly smaller than the Starshine 8, which suggests that its starting price may be lower than the RMB 125,800 price tag of the latter. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers looking for a high-quality hybrid vehicle.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently released a catalog of approved models for public comment, with the Geely Galaxy Starshine 6 included. This marks the final regulatory step before the vehicle can be officially sold in China.

The Starshine 6 boasts impressive dimensions, with a length of 4,806 mm, width of 1,886 mm, and height of 1,490 mm. It features a wheelbase of 2,756 mm and a curb weight of 1,505/1,580 kilograms. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter engine with a maximum power output of 82 kW and is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from Chinese manufacturers CALB and Rept Battero Energy.

Production of the Starshine 6 will take place at Geely’s factory in Huzhou, Zhejiang province. The new hybrid sedan is part of Geely Galaxy’s aggressive new model launch strategy, which has seen the brand achieve remarkable growth over the past year.

In addition to the Starshine 6, Geely Galaxy recently introduced the M9 hybrid SUV and the A7 hybrid sedan, both based on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform. The brand also has plans to launch the 2025 E5 electric SUV later this month.

Geely Galaxy’s sales figures speak for themselves, with the brand selling 548,408 vehicles in the first half of this year, representing a 232.00 percent year-on-year increase. This impressive growth has prompted Geely to raise its 2025 sales target from 2.71 million units to 3 million units.

With a strong lineup of hybrid and electric vehicles, Geely Galaxy is set to maintain its position as a leader in the Chinese automotive market. The Starshine 6 hybrid sedan is just the latest example of the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
