Geely Galaxy, a sub-brand of Geely Auto (HKG: 0175), has recently unveiled its latest offering, the A7 hybrid sedan. This new model is set to rival other hybrid sedans in the market, particularly the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i.

Priced competitively at a starting guide price of RMB 89,800 ($12,500), the Galaxy A7 is expected to attract customers with its affordability. In fact, Geely Galaxy is offering seven different variants of the A7, with prices ranging from RMB 89,800 to RMB 125,800. Additionally, customers who make a purchase before September 30 can benefit from a trade-in discount of RMB 8,000, further lowering the starting price to RMB 81,800.

The Galaxy A7 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. This makes it larger than its competitor, the BYD Qin L DM-i, which has slightly smaller dimensions and a starting price of RMB 99,800.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A7 is powered by a 1.5-liter engine with a remarkable thermal efficiency of up to 47.26 percent. It is the first plug-in hybrid sedan developed based on Geely’s GEA architecture, emphasizing fuel economy with a CLTC fuel consumption of 2.67 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted. The A7 offers a combined range of 2,100 kilometers when the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank is full, thanks to two battery options – an 8.5 kWh battery from CALB and an 18.4 kWh battery from CALT.

In terms of technology, the Galaxy A7 comes equipped with basic driver assistance systems in two variants, while other models feature Geely’s G-Pilot H3 intelligent driving assistance system. This system supports city commuting navigation assistance and highway navigation assistance, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Analysts predict that the Galaxy A7 will be a strong contender in the market, with an estimated average monthly sales volume of 10,000 units. Its longer body length, wheelbase, and advanced features such as the Flyme Auto cockpit system set it apart from competitors like the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i.

Overall, the Galaxy A7 represents a promising addition to Geely Galaxy’s lineup, offering a blend of performance, efficiency, and technology at an attractive price point. ($1 = RMB 7.1839)
