Geely Auto’s sub-brand Geely Galaxy has made a remarkable entrance into the market with its latest model, the Starshine 8. This new model is expected to drive strong growth in Geely’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales.

Just six days after its launch on May 9, the Starshine 8 has already garnered over 10,000 firm orders, showcasing a high level of interest and demand for this hybrid sedan. The Geely Galaxy brand was officially introduced on February 23, 2023, and has quickly gained momentum in the market.

The Starshine 8 comes in seven different variants, including five fuel economy-focused EM-i versions and two performance-oriented EM-P versions. The starting price for the EM-i variants is RMB 125,800 ($17,450), with the EM-P versions starting at RMB 154,800. Customers who purchase the model before June 30 can avail of a limited-time discount of RMB 10,000.

Measuring at 5,018 mm in length, 1,918 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the Starshine 8 offers both power and efficiency. The EM-i variants can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while the EM-P variants can achieve this in 6.49 seconds.

The Starshine 8 is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs with varying capacities, providing a CLTC battery range of up to 130 km. Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin highlighted the competitive pricing of the Starshine 8, attributing it to Geely’s Electric Architecture (GEA) technology, which streamlines the production process and reduces costs.

With expectations of monthly sales reaching 10,000 units, Geely Galaxy is on track to achieve its 2025 full-year volume target of 1.0 million units. In April, Geely Galaxy reported a significant increase in sales, up 659.39 percent year-on-year, further solidifying its position in the market.

In conclusion, the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 is set to make a significant impact in the NEV market with its competitive pricing, advanced technology, and strong sales performance. As Geely continues to innovate and expand its product lineup, we can expect to see further growth and success in the coming years.
