GWM to Introduce Haval Brand in the UK in 2025
For the past years, Great Wall Motors (GWM) has been focusing on selling the Ora brand in the UK market. However, a significant change is on the horizon for 2025 with the introduction of the Haval brand to the British market. This move will not only bring a new brand to UK consumers but also result in the rebranding of dealerships.
In January of this year, GWM celebrated the sale of the 1000th Ora 03 electric hatchback in the UK. The Ora 03, initially launched as the Funky Cat in 2022, remains the only model available in the UK market. Despite promises of the Ora 07, also known as the Lightning Cat in China, making an appearance in 2024, it seems unlikely to happen anytime soon.
Starting in 2025, GWM UK will transition to the ‘one GWM’ platform, aligning with other global markets such as Australia. This shift will result in the rebranding of dealerships from GWM Ora to simply GWM.
Notably, the Haval brand is set to make its debut in the UK in early 2025 with the launch of the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid SUV. Known as the Haval Chitu in China, this hybrid SUV offers a unique driving experience, blending efficiency and performance.
The Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid is a compact SUV with dimensions of 4470mm in length, 1898mm in width, and 1625mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2700mm.
Under the hood, the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter engine producing 70kW of power and 125Nm of torque, paired with a 115kW electric motor delivering an additional 250Nm of torque. The combined system offers 140kW of power and 375Nm of torque, providing a balanced driving experience.
Equipped with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid offers impressive fuel efficiency, with a quoted consumption of 5.1 L/100 km in the Australian market.
Toby Marshall, Managing Director of GWM UK, expressed enthusiasm for the brand’s expansion in the UK market, stating, “This is the start of a new era for GWM in the UK, as we expand the product offering available to customers.”
With a portfolio that includes brands like ORA, Haval, Wey, Tank, and Poer, GWM is poised to offer a diverse range of vehicles to UK consumers, catering to different preferences and needs.
