Great Wall Motor’s personalized brand Tank has announced that it will kick off pre-sales of the updated Tank 500 SUV on August 11. The main focus of the upgrades in this new model is on enhancing vehicle intelligence, as highlighted by GWM chairman Wei Jianjun in a recent video shared on Weibo.
According to Wei, the updated Tank 500 will come equipped with advanced features such as smart driving and parking assistance. Additionally, the SUV will boast luxurious amenities including a refrigerator, TV, and spacious sofa for added comfort.
In terms of dimensions, the updated Tank 500 will maintain a length, width, and height of 5,078 mm, 1,934 mm, and 1,905 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, similar to its predecessor. The vehicle will offer two powertrain options – the Hi4-T and Hi4-Z, catering to different driving preferences. The Hi4-T is geared towards off-road performance, while the Hi4-Z is tailored for family use.
Both powertrains feature a plug-in hybrid system comprising a 2.0-liter engine and electric motors. The Tank 500 Hi4-T boasts a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 120 kW and a battery pack capacity of 37.1 kWh, providing a battery range of 110 kilometers. On the other hand, the Tank 500 Hi4-Z is equipped with dual electric motors delivering a combined power output of 455 kW and a battery pack capacity of 59.05 kWh, offering a battery range of 201 kilometers.
Moreover, the updated Tank 500 will come equipped with cutting-edge technology, including ATX LiDAR from Hesai Group and GWM’s third-generation driver assistance system, Coffee Pilot Ultra.
In July, the Tank brand achieved a significant milestone by selling 20,020 vehicles, marking a 7.16 percent year-on-year increase. This strong performance contributed to 19.18 percent of GWM’s total monthly sales. However, in the first seven months of the year, the brand witnessed a slight decline in sales, with a total of 123,680 vehicles sold, down by 8.19 percent compared to the previous year.
