Hesai Technology, a China-based LiDAR sensor manufacturer, has recently announced a significant partnership with Chery Automobile’s new energy brand, iCAR. As part of this collaboration, Hesai’s ATX LiDAR will be integrated into iCAR vehicles, with mass production set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The ATX LiDAR sensor is described as a compact, ultra-high-definition, long-range sensor that enhances the perception capabilities of iCAR vehicles. It will enable advanced functions such as active braking, adaptive cruise control, urban navigation, and smart parking, all of which are crucial for navigating complex driving scenarios.
Yifan “David” Li, the co-founder and CEO of Hesai, expressed his excitement about being selected as the exclusive LiDAR provider for iCAR’s new models. This partnership with Chery represents a significant milestone in Hesai’s mission to make intelligent driving technology more accessible to the mass market.
Hesai has already established partnerships with 22 automotive OEMs worldwide, covering a wide range of vehicle models. In addition to the collaboration with Chery, the company recently secured a contract with a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) automaker to supply ATX LiDAR for high-end smart EV models.
Furthermore, Hesai signed a deal in December 2024 to provide Changan Automobile with over 1.5 million LiDAR sensors for its upcoming smart driving platform. These compact LiDAR units will be integrated into various vehicle models across the Changan brand portfolio, with production expected to begin in the second half of 2025.
Overall, Hesai’s innovative LiDAR technology is paving the way for safer and more efficient driving experiences in the automotive industry. With a strong track record of successful partnerships and a commitment to advancing intelligent driving solutions, Hesai is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of autonomous vehicles.
