Honda Motor is set to implement a series of organizational and operational changes effective 1 April 2025. These changes are aimed at enhancing the company’s global mobility solutions, with a particular focus on accelerating electrification efforts and integrating intelligent technology.
As part of Honda’s broader strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the company will reorganize its automobile operations by integrating the Automobile Business Strategy Unit and the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Business Development Unit into its broader Automobile Operations. This integration is expected to improve business planning, digital services, and overall customer experience by aligning these functions more closely with the company’s operations.
Additionally, Honda will establish a new unit called Automobile Development Operations, which will bring together electric vehicle (EV) development from the Electrification Business Development Operations and internal combustion engine (ICE) development from Automobile Operations. This move aims to streamline the development process and enhance collaboration between different vehicle technologies within the company.
In the motorcycle and power products division, Honda will merge the Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Development Unit with its Motorcycle and Power Products Operations. This consolidation is designed to drive innovation and efficiency in the development of electrified products within this division.
Recently, reports from Nikkei Asia have indicated that Honda Motor is planning to introduce a small electric vehicle in North America, potentially by 2026, with a price tag below $30,000. This move aligns with Honda’s commitment to sustainable mobility and the electrification of its product lineup.
By implementing these organizational and operational changes, Honda Motor is positioning itself for future success in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. The company’s focus on electrification, integration of intelligent technology, and commitment to carbon neutrality demonstrate its dedication to delivering innovative and sustainable mobility solutions to customers worldwide.
