China FAW Group’s Hongqi brand has recently unveiled the Tiangong 05, an all-electric mid-size sedan, expanding its lineup of electric vehicles. This new model follows the successful launch of the Tiangong 08 electric SUV last month, showcasing Hongqi’s commitment to electrification.
The Tiangong 05 comes in four different variants, with prices starting at RMB 159,800 ($22,020). The vehicle measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. It is powered by a rear electric motor delivering a maximum power of 210 kW and a torque of 317 Nm, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds.
Two of the variants are equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs with a capacity of 62 kWh, providing a range of 550 kilometers. The other two variants feature larger 85 kWh LFP battery packs, offering an extended range of 750 kilometers. All models support fast charging, with peak charging powers of 200 kW for the lower-end variants and 265 kW for the higher-end models. This allows the Tiangong 05 to be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
In addition to these four variants, Hongqi has announced two more models based on the 900 V high-voltage platform, although specific details and pricing have yet to be revealed. The Tiangong 05 is the second BEV model launched by Hongqi this year, following the introduction of the Tiangong 08 SUV in January.
With its sleek design, advanced technology, and impressive performance, the Tiangong 05 is set to make a mark in the competitive electric vehicle market. Hongqi’s continued focus on electrification and innovation demonstrates its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. The launch of the Tiangong 05 further solidifies Hongqi’s position as a key player in the electric vehicle industry, offering consumers a wide range of options to choose from.
