Vauxhall Teases New Electric Mokka GSe Model
Vauxhall is gearing up to launch a hot new GSe version of its popular Mokka crossover, signaling a shift towards offering exclusively electric cars under its performance-focused sub-brand.
While details about the new model have not been officially confirmed, a teaser video shared on social media by CEO Florian Huettl hints at the Mokka GSe’s debut, announcing the brand’s move away from combustion engine models like the previous Astra GSe.
Expected to feature a single-motor set-up similar to the Abarth 600e, Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, and Lancia Ypsilon HF, the Mokka GSe is likely to offer power outputs ranging from 235bhp to 278bhp. These power figures, coupled with limited-slip differentials, are expected to deliver impressive performance and handling capabilities.
Huettl suggested that the Mokka GSe will offer a more distinct driving experience compared to the standard model, focusing on characteristics like exceptional grip, G-forces, and the thrill of navigating through challenging corners.
In terms of styling, the teaser video hints at a more aggressive design for the Mokka GSe, featuring a rally-style roof scoop. While this design element may be exclusive to a concept version, it suggests a bold and sporty appearance for the upcoming electric crossover.
Aside from the Mokka GSe, Huettl teased additional electric Vauxhall models on the horizon, promising that the brand’s electric future will not compromise on performance or innovation. He hinted at more exciting reveals scheduled for 2025, indicating that Vauxhall is just getting started on its electrification journey.
Speculation suggests that Vauxhall may unveil the Mokka GSe and other electric models at the upcoming Munich motor show in September, a significant event for the brand and its sister company Opel. However, no official announcements have been made regarding this potential showcase.
