Aito, the Huawei-backed automotive brand, is set to officially launch its updated M9 SUV on March 20, following the commencement of pre-orders earlier this month. The company also announced that its new SUV model, the M8, will be launched in April.

The M9 was initially introduced on December 26, 2023, as the third model in Aito’s lineup, following the M5 and M7. Initially available only in six-seater variants, Aito expanded the M9’s offerings by introducing five-seater variants on September 10, 2024.

With seven different variants of the M9 currently available, the pricing ranges from RMB 469,800 to RMB 569,800, making it one of the more high-end models from Chinese brands. The updated M9 recently entered the regulatory catalog of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealing key specifications such as its dimensions and wheelbase.

Pre-orders for the M9 began on March 6, with a starting price of RMB 478,000 yuan. Customers who placed a deposit of RMB 5,000 to reserve the M9 were offered a RMB 10,000 reduction on the final payment. Within the first hour of pre-sales, the M9 garnered over 3,800 pre-orders.

In addition to the M9, Aito also commenced pre-sales for the M8 on March 6, with a pre-sales price of RMB 368,000 yuan. The company reported receiving more than 7,500 pre-orders for the M8 within the first hour.

The Aito M9 and M8 are part of Huawei’s broader strategy to expand its automotive offerings through the Aito brand. The upcoming launches of these SUV models signify Aito’s commitment to providing high-quality vehicles that cater to a range of consumer preferences and needs.
