Luxeed, a collaboration between Huawei and Chery, has introduced two new extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants for its R7 coupe SUV. The Pro and Max variants are priced at RMB 249,800 ($34,230) and RMB 289,800, respectively, with deliveries starting on January 5.
The Luxeed R7 was initially launched on September 24, offering only battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants at a starting price of RMB 259,800. This model marks the second release under the Luxeed brand, following the Luxeed S7 sedan, and is the first coupe SUV developed under Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business.
Both EREV variants of the Luxeed R7 maintain the same dimensions as the BEV version, with a length, width, and height of 4,956 mm, 1,981 mm, and 1,634 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The EREV models feature Huawei’s DriveOne motor and Chery’s fifth-generation EREV-specific engine, boasting a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent.
Powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a 37 kWh capacity, the Luxeed R7 EREV offers a CLTC battery range of 251 kilometers. When fully fueled and charged, the combined CLTC range extends to 1,570 kilometers. The Pro variant excludes LiDAR technology, while the Max variant includes a 192-channel LiDAR system.
Luxeed is providing limited-time purchase incentives for customers who buy the R7 EREV variants before February 5. The Pro version offers RMB 31,000 worth of entitlements, including features like zero-gravity seats and smart driving software, while the Max version includes RMB 42,000 worth of entitlements.
In November, Luxeed delivered 8,983 units of the R7, with total firm orders exceeding 42,000 after just two months on the market. The Luxeed R7 EREV models promise a seamless blend of electric and hybrid technology, catering to a wider range of customers seeking eco-friendly and innovative transportation solutions.
