Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business is gearing up for the official launch of the Maextro brand with a technology event scheduled for next week. The event, set to begin at 2:30 pm Beijing Time on February 20, aims to build anticipation for the Maextro S800, the brand’s flagship model.
Maextro is a luxury car brand developed through a collaboration between Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC). The first model under this brand, the Maextro S800 sedan, was unveiled during Huawei’s new product launch event on November 26, 2024, and has since entered the pre-sales phase. While an official launch date is yet to be announced, interested buyers can reserve the Maextro S800 by paying an intention deposit of RMB 20,000. The price range for this model is expected to fall between RMB 1 million ($137,000) and RMB 1.5 million.
In December of last year, the Maextro S800 was listed in a regulatory filing catalog by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), indicating that the model will be available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants. Both versions of the vehicle share the same dimensions, offering options for four-seat and five-seat configurations.
The inauguration of Maextro’s factory in Hefei, Anhui province, last December marked a significant milestone for the brand’s development. Positioned as the most upscale brand under Huawei’s HIMA umbrella, Maextro joins other collaborative brands such as Stelato with BAIC Group, Aito with Seres Group, and Luxeed with Chery.
Recent reports suggest that Huawei is also partnering with SAIC Motor to introduce a new automotive brand called Shangjie, adding to the growing portfolio of brands under the HIMA business. This new venture reflects Huawei’s commitment to innovation and expansion in the automotive industry.
As the automotive market continues to evolve, Huawei’s strategic partnerships and brand developments position the company as a key player in shaping the future of mobility. Stay tuned for more updates on Maextro and other exciting developments from Huawei’s HIMA business.
