Maextro, a new automotive brand developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), has officially unveiled its first model, the S800 luxury sedan. Positioned as a challenger to Mercedes-Maybach in the Chinese market, the Maextro S800 comes with a starting price of RMB 708,000 ($98,330), which is significantly lower than the previously anticipated price range of RMB 1 million to RMB 1.5 million.

The launch event for the Maextro S800 took place recently, showcasing the brand’s commitment to delivering luxury and performance at a more accessible price point. The model offers two battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants, with the five-seat version starting at RMB 708,000 and the four-seat version at RMB 818,000.

In addition to the BEV variants, the Maextro S800 also offers four extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options, catering to different preferences and needs of customers. The EREV variants come with a range extender and offer dual-motor and tri-motor configurations, providing a balance between electric and internal combustion engine power.

One notable feature of the Maextro S800 is its impressive range, with the EREV variants capable of covering up to 1,333 kilometers on a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery. This highlights the brand’s focus on delivering practical and efficient solutions for luxury sedan customers.

Inside the Maextro S800, Huawei has integrated its advanced ADS 4 smart driving system, enhancing the driving experience with intelligent features that prioritize safety and comfort. The model’s interior exudes luxury and sophistication, setting it apart as a viable option for those seeking a premium driving experience.

The Maextro S800 is part of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) umbrella, which includes other brands like BAIC Group’s Stelato, Seres Group’s Aito, Chery’s Luxeed, and SAIC Motor’s Shangjie. This collaborative effort aims to redefine the automotive landscape in China by offering innovative and high-quality vehicles to consumers.
