Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) are set to launch the Maextro S800, their first model under the new automotive brand Maextro, on May 30. The luxury sedan is expected to be priced between RMB 1 million and RMB 1.5 million. This launch event will kick off at 7:30 pm Beijing time on May 30, according to an announcement made by Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business on Weibo.
The Maextro S800 is a flagship model that promises to redefine luxury with its cutting-edge technology. It is the fourth brand created by Huawei in collaboration with a local car company, following Stelato with BAIC Group, Aito with Seres Group, and Luxeed with Chery. Additionally, Huawei unveiled SAIC Shangjie, its fifth automotive brand under the HIMA umbrella, in April.
The Maextro S800 was first unveiled on November 26, 2024, and pre-orders began shortly after. The model will be built on Huawei’s second-generation Tuling Intelligent Chassis system and will feature L3 smart driving architecture.
Measuring 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm, the Maextro S800 will offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options, including dual-motor and tri-motor versions.
In a market typically dominated by German luxury automakers, the Maextro S800 will be one of the few luxury sedans launched by a local Chinese brand. Nio recently launched the ET9, its executive sedan, starting at RMB 788,000, while BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand, Yangwang, introduced the U7 sedan with a starting price of RMB 628,000.
The Maextro S800’s launch signifies Huawei and JAC’s entry into the luxury car market, offering consumers a locally-built alternative with advanced technology and design. Stay tuned for more updates on the Maextro S800 as it officially debuts on May 30.
