Shangjie, the collaboration between Huawei and SAIC Motor, has unveiled the first official images of its inaugural model, the H5. This SUV is set to hit the market in the fall and promises to be a game-changer with the integration of Huawei’s latest ADS 4 driver assistance system.
The H5’s exterior design is showcased in three images shared by Shangjie on Weibo, highlighting a LiDAR sensor on the roof, a feature commonly seen in Chinese EV models. Additionally, the vehicle will come equipped with Huawei’s cutting-edge ADS 4 system, as confirmed by Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive director and chairman of the consumer business group.
The Qiankun ADS 4 smart driving system boasts a forward-looking architecture for autonomous driving, incorporating a “world engine + world behavior model” framework that enhances traffic efficiency by 20 percent, according to Huawei’s website. With four variants available — ADS SE, ADS Pro, ADS Max, and ADS Ultra — the system supports smart driving capabilities ranging from Level 2 to Level 3.
As the fifth automotive brand under Huawei’s HIMA alliance, Shangjie joins Aito, Luxeed, Stelato, and Maextro in revolutionizing the automotive industry. The brand’s debut was officially announced by Yu in April, with plans to launch the first Shangjie EV model later this year.
The pricing for the H5 has yet to be disclosed, but reports suggest it could start at approximately RMB 150,000 ($20,920), positioning it as the most affordable option within the HIMA alliance. Shangjie’s initial investment of RMB 6 billion will leverage SAIC’s established production lines, with future plans for a dedicated factory.
Stay tuned for more updates on Shangjie’s journey as it prepares to make its mark in the automotive market with the innovative H5 SUV.
