Hyundai’s N performance brand is known for its high-performance vehicles, starting with the i30 N in 2017 and followed by the i20 N in 2021. The brand made a shift towards electric vehicles with the introduction of the Ioniq 5 N in 2023. However, N division boss Joon Park has hinted that the brand will not be limited to electric sports cars in the future.

At the Autocar Awards ceremony in London, Park mentioned that Hyundai N will continue to offer a diverse powertrain lineup, in line with the parent company’s strategy. While the Ioniq 6 N will be unveiled at Goodwood soon, Park emphasized that the brand is open to exploring different powertrain options beyond pure electric.

Hyundai has already announced plans to expand its hybrid lineup due to slower adoption of EVs globally. The company will also introduce its first range-extender EV in the US next year. Park highlighted that Hyundai N is open to various technologies and innovations, including EVs, hybrids, and potentially other propulsion methods.

The N performance brand has previously showcased the Vision N 74 concept, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle with impressive performance figures. While there have been rumors about the concept going into production, Hyundai has not confirmed any plans. The brand’s focus has primarily been on electric vehicles, but Park’s comments suggest that they are willing to explore different avenues for future models.

Overall, Hyundai’s N performance brand is committed to pushing boundaries and exploring new technologies. Whether it’s EVs, hybrids, or other innovative powertrains, Hyundai N aims to deliver high-performance vehicles that excite enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more updates on Hyundai’s evolving lineup of performance cars.
