Hyundai to Launch Next Generation Interior with Physical Buttons
Hyundai is set to unveil its next generation interior next year, with a focus on safety and simplicity. Vice president of design Simon Loasby revealed at the Seoul motor show that the new interior will feature physical buttons, in contrast to the trend of touchscreen-dominated cabins.
The decision to retain physical buttons is driven by Hyundai’s commitment to keeping drivers’ eyes on the road. Loasby emphasized the importance of minimizing distractions and ensuring that essential functions can be accessed without taking eyes off the road or hands off the wheel.
Hyundai’s design philosophy for the next generation interiors is centered around creating a calm and safe driving experience. While the central screen will still be present, the emphasis will be on providing essential information without overwhelming the driver with unnecessary distractions.
Design boss Luc Donckerwolke highlighted the importance of finding the right balance in screen size and usability. The goal is to provide drivers with the necessary information in a size that allows for easy viewing while maintaining focus on the road.
While physical buttons offer familiarity and ease of use, screens provide flexibility and efficiency. Hyundai aims to strike the perfect balance between the two, ensuring that drivers can access essential functions without compromising safety.
With a focus on safety, simplicity, and functionality, Hyundai’s next generation interior is poised to set new standards in automotive design. Stay tuned for the official unveiling next year.
