Hyundai Teases Design of Ioniq 3 Electric Hatchback Concept
Hyundai has given us a glimpse of the design of their upcoming electric hatchback concept, set to debut at the Munich Motor Show next week. The show car has been named Concept Three, hinting at a possible production model called the Ioniq 3, closely related to the Kia EV3.
The design sketch indicates that Hyundai’s hatchback will take inspiration from the sleek Ioniq 6 saloon, rather than the retro-styled Ioniq 5 crossover or the robust Ioniq 9 SUV. The profile of the car resembles a sporty two-door coupe, featuring a rear wing, aggressive front splitter, wraparound lights, and a futuristic glasshouse for enhanced aerodynamics.
Not only will the Hyundai Concept Three rival the Cupra Born, but it will also showcase the brand’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language. This design philosophy is described as being inspired by the flexibility and strength of steel, with sculpted surfaces and clean lines emphasizing motion and precision.
The production version of the Ioniq 3 is slated to hit the market in the third quarter of 2026, with deliveries expected to commence in July of that year. Built on the E-GMP platform shared with other Hyundai Motor Group EVs, the Ioniq 3 is likely to offer similar specifications to the Kia EV3, including battery options and powertrain configurations.
Inside, Hyundai promises a significant improvement in usability, with a new infotainment system that can adjust ambient lighting and sound based on driving modes or personal preferences.
