Hyundai is set to introduce a new Bayon-sized electric crossover in the near future as part of its efforts to expand its range of electric vehicles. This upcoming model, which is expected to be unveiled in the next few months, will fill the gap between the Inster and Kona Electric models. Positioned as a competitor to vehicles like the Renault 4 and Volvo EX30, this electric crossover is anticipated to be launched in the third quarter of 2026, with deliveries potentially starting as early as July of that year.
According to Hyundai’s new European CEO Xavier Martinet, the company is fully committed to electrifying its lineup and increasing its mix of electrified vehicles in the years to come. The new electric crossover will be based on the scalable E-GMP platform, which is utilized by various Hyundai Motor Group brands including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.
Similar to the Kia EV3, the electric crossover is expected to offer a choice between different battery pack sizes, with ranges of up to 372 miles. The vehicle will be equipped with a single electric motor delivering 201bhp and 209lb ft of torque to the front wheels. Inside, Hyundai promises a significant improvement in usability with a new infotainment system that can adjust elements like ambient lighting and noise based on driving modes or preferences.
The pricing for the new electric crossover is likely to be in line with the Kia EV2, which is estimated to start at around €30,000 (£25,000). This upcoming model will join Hyundai’s expanding lineup of electric vehicles, following the upcoming Ioniq 9 flagship model. With its sleek design, advanced technology, and eco-friendly performance, the new Hyundai electric crossover is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market.
