Hyundai Motor Company recently unveiled its latest addition to the electric vehicle market, the all-new Ioniq 9. The global launch event took place at the iconic Goldstein House in Los Angeles, emphasizing the importance of the US market for this three-row, seven-seater SUV. Despite concerns about potential changes in tax incentives under the new government, Hyundai is confident in the appeal of the Ioniq 9.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 9 boasts a spacious interior that combines cutting-edge design with innovative EV technology. The “Relaxation Seats” in the first and second rows can fully recline and come equipped with leg rests for maximum comfort during vehicle charging. Hyundai’s “Dynamic Body Care system” uses pressure and vibration to enhance blood circulation and reduce fatigue on long journeys. Additionally, the second-row seats can swivel, allowing passengers to face each other when the vehicle is stationary.
The Universal Island 2.0 console provides additional storage space, while the walk-through front-row seating layout enhances accessibility and convenience. The Ioniq 9 is powered by a 110kWh NCM lithium-ion battery pack, offering a range of up to 620 km with an energy consumption of 194 Wh/km. The vehicle can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350 kW charger.
The Long-Range RWD model features a 160 kW rear motor, while the Long-Range AWD model includes an additional 70 kW front motor. The Performance AWD model is powered by two 160 kW motors, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. José Muñoz, Hyundai Motor’s global chief operating officer, confirmed that the Ioniq 9 will be manufactured at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) plant in Georgia.
The Ioniq 9 represents Hyundai’s commitment to the electric vehicle market and showcases the company’s dedication to innovation and sustainability. With its advanced features and impressive performance, the Ioniq 9 is set to make a significant impact in the EV industry.
