Improved Speed Limit Warnings in Kia Sorento and EV9
Have you ever been annoyed by the incessant bongs warning you of speed limit breaches in your Kia Sorento or EV9? Well, Kia has heard your complaints and has made it easier to disable these audible warnings in a recent over-the-air update. Now, all you have to do is press and hold the mute button on the steering wheel to turn off the warnings, or turn them back on if you prefer the extra help. The visual cues will still remain, so you won’t miss any important information.
It’s worth noting that the audible warnings will default to being on every time the car is started, as required by regulations. But the ability to easily switch them off or on based on your preference is a welcome change that shows Kia is listening to customer feedback.
Other manufacturers are also starting to understand how customers want to interact with these systems, as they continue to improve the usability and reliability of these features.
Elon Musk’s Changing Stance on Concept Cars
Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla, has had a change of heart when it comes to concept cars. In 2015, Musk expressed his frustration with companies that unveil amazing show cars that never make it to production. However, just two years later, Tesla teased the idea of a second-generation Roadster, which is still not available for purchase today.
Despite this, Tesla has made bold pronouncements about future products, such as the Cybertruck and unsupervised Full Self-Driving capabilities. Musk recently unveiled a new Cybercab, a two-seat autonomous minicab set to launch in 2027. While Tesla has achieved remarkable success, not all of their ambitious plans have translated into reality.
It’s clear that Musk’s views on concept cars have evolved over the years, and Tesla continues to push the boundaries of innovation in the automotive industry. Whether all of their futuristic concepts will come to fruition remains to be seen.
